"We are in the middle of the most extraordinary explosion of innovation and creativity that we have known in two centuries." This article provides a good introduction to Lawrence Lessig's thought, a good perspective on Internet trends, and a lot to think about for those of us working on structuring Net processes. It is a bit scary, too, on how the structure of the Net evolved and continues to evolve in ways it is hard to track/predict.

The overarching goal of the visioning process is to provide the information needed to enable the American public to achieve and maintain the best possible health. The visioning process is addressing these questions:

• What health information will be needed in the 21st century?
• What conceptual framework meaningfully organizes the information?
• What approaches to collection, storage and communication will most efficiently get high-quality information where it can make a difference?
• What privacy, confidentiality and security protections must be in place to ensure that information can safely be used to promote the public’s health?

Dramatic transformations in information and communication technologies offer innovative and unprecedented opportunities for health improvements on a national and global scale. The framework that can link health improvements and information technologies is the National Health Information Infrastructure (NHII).
