IMKI will operate a
non-proprietary "public library" — of medical informatics applications,
standardized clinical terminology and computer code — that is available
to and that can be implemented and contributed to by all healthcare information
technology (HIT) system vendors and individual users
Promote decision support,
clinical workflow and other knowledge management technologies in patient
care and clinical research;
Disseminate methods
and tools for building healthcare knowledge applications that comply with
the highest possible quality, safety and ethical standards;
Build a community of
individuals, organisations and commercial companies who believe in the importance
of knowledge management, and who wish to contribute to the definition and
adoption of open technical standards for medical applications.
The Knowledge Management Centre The Knowledge Management Centre is part of the
School of Public Policy. It's work focuses on the significance for policy
and practice of advances in information and communication technologies,
this includes the use of distance methods of diagnosis and treatment in health
care and the role of new technologies in research and collaboration at a
distance.
